Ed Doering was working as a radar operator in the Canadian Arctic on the Distant Early Warning Line when he saw an ad in his hometown newspaper advertising for a reporter/photographer.
The editor of the Dauphin Herald at that time, Murray Lyons, conducted an interview over the phone while Ed was stationed at Fox-2 on Baffin Island.
He began working at the Roblin Review in May of 1989. About a year later Ed was named editor, a position he continues to hold.
Over the years, he has earned a reputation for accurate and fair reporting and has been recognized for going above and beyond the call of “the newspaper guy” being named an honourary Lion and for his support of various local projects, including the construction of the Roblin & District Community Centre, the Roblin Leisure Aquatic Centre and the Asessippi ski resort in news articles and editorials.
Since joining the Review, the paper has been recognized with numerous awards from both the Manitoba Community Newspaper Association and the Canadian Community Newspaper Association.
